What the winterisation service covers

A targeted visit to identify weak points outside the main property and put practical protection in place before temperatures drop. Depending on your set-up, it can include:

• Checking external taps, valves and visible joints for leaks or poor operation
• Isolating and draining outdoor water feeds where possible
• Repairing minor leaks on exposed pipework and fittings
• Adding or renewing insulation and lagging to vulnerable pipe runs
• Securing loose pipework and brackets to reduce movement and strain
• Assessing pipework serving garages, outbuildings and outside WCs
• Flagging risks and advising on next steps where more work is needed

When this service is most useful

• You have an outside tap, garden irrigation feed, or pipework running to an outbuilding.
• Pipework is exposed, poorly insulated, or has a history of freezing.
• You are a landlord or managing agent preparing for winter callout risk.
• The property will be empty over winter and you want to reduce avoidable damage.
• You have noticed small drips outside and want them dealt with before they worsen.

What happens during the visit

You will get a clear, practical assessment of your external plumbing and the specific areas most likely to freeze. Where suitable, protective measures can be fitted straight away, and minor repairs can be completed if access and parts allow. If more extensive work is required, you will be told what is needed and why, before anything is progressed.

After the service

You will receive a summary of what was checked and what was done, plus any recommendations for follow-up work. If further improvements would reduce winter risk, you can choose to schedule them at a convenient time. You can also use the findings to plan future maintenance and avoid repeat issues each winter.
