What the assessment covers

The aim is to move from symptoms to a clear diagnosis, using a methodical approach rather than guesswork.

• Review of reported problems and system history
• Visual inspection of key components and accessible pipework
• Pressure, flow and temperature checks (where applicable)
• Checks for leaks, air ingress, blockages and restrictions
• Radiator performance checks (cold spots, balancing, heat distribution)
• Heating controls and thermostat behaviour review
• Identification of likely causes and contributing factors
• Clear recommendations, prioritised by urgency and impact

When this service is most useful

This assessment is a good fit if you need answers before committing to further work, or if previous fixes have not solved the problem. Common reasons include:

• Radiators not heating evenly or taking a long time to warm up
• Boiler cycling, noisy operation, frequent pressure drops or fault codes
• Hot water temperature fluctuating or running out quickly
• Ongoing damp patches or suspected hidden leaks
• Low flow at taps or poor shower performance
• High running costs with no obvious reason

How the visit works

You will be asked a few focused questions about the symptoms, when they occur, and any recent changes or repairs. The system is then checked in a logical order, with targeted tests to confirm or rule out the most likely causes.

Where safe and appropriate, you will be talked through what is being found as the checks progress. If any immediate risks are identified, these will be highlighted straight away.

After the assessment

You receive a clear summary of what has been identified, what is most likely causing the issue, and what to do next. Recommendations are practical and proportionate, from simple adjustments and maintenance through to repairs or upgrades if needed.

If remedial work is required, you can use the findings to plan the next step with clarity, compare options, and avoid repeat call-outs for the same unresolved fault.
